India Mission to Mars blasts off successfully

India’s maiden voyage to the red planet began at the scheduled time as per the planned procedure. PSLV C 25 blasted off successfully today at 2 38 pm from the Sathish Dhawan Space Centre Sriharikota 100 kms away from Chennai

All the four stages of ignition and separation took place in a text book fashion. The first Mars orbiter was successfully placed in at exactly 45 minutes after take off.

The Chairman of ISRO Dr. Radhakrishnan expressed extreme happiness as the precise procedures in the mission were achieved and saluted the ISRO team for taking forward such a proud adventure in a dedicated manner. The journey has just begun, he said.

For the next ten days the apogee level would be raised to 2 lakh kilometers and in the early hours of December 1, the great, long and difficult voyage would start on September 2014, this journey would be around Mars and precisely get into the Martian orbit with five scientific instruments to provide details which would encourage Indian youth and the scientific humanity all over the world.

He also said that Prime Minister had congratulated ISRO team. He assured that ISRO would fulfill the expectation that the Nation has in them.

The Minister of State in Prime Minister’s office Mr. V. Narayanasamy congratulated the ISRO team and assured the support of the Government in all their ventures. He said that it was a joyous moment when ISRO scientists proved to the world that nothing was impossible for them. Mr. Narayanasamy expressed hope that India would be the fourth in the world to join the list of successful mission to Mars.

The Director of the Mission Mr. Kunhikrishnan said that the longest PSLV mission was extremely successful. He said that complex mission like these have been challenging and has been a tool to capture and ignite young minds of the Nation.

Former Chairmen and directors of ISRO Mr.Kasthuri Rangan, Mr.U.R.Rao and Prof. Yashpal who were present for the launch congratulated the scientists and said that it was a great moment for India and called it a big day that made India very proud. They looked forward to achieve the destined Martian Orbit amidst challenging circumstances.
