Revised draft of Lokpal bill will be introduced in the current session of parliament

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal today expressed confidence that revised draft of the Lokpal bill will be introduced in this session of Parliament after taking into account the views of all Political parties.

Talking to reporters outside Parliament, Mr. Bansal said that government is formulating its final opinion after considering the views of 35 Political parties. He added that Team Anna must understand that it is the Parliament which makes laws and it is doing its job responsibly despite being a lengthy procedure.

Mr. Bansal said that Government has no proposal to extend the winter session of Parliament to pass the Lokpal Bill. He said that the government is working overtime to evolve a consensus on Lokpal. The Minister said that a suggestion forwarded by team Anna to consult the people from each constituency before making the law is impractical.

Consensus had eluded political parties in an all party meeting convened by the Prime Minister last evening. CPI leader D Raja today said that government should clear its stand on various issues concerning Lokpal. He added that political parties have already made their stand clear
