DMK Chief M.Karunanidhi wants CSAT exam of UPSC in Tamil

The DMK Chief Mr.M.Karunanidhi has sought Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh’s intervention in the issue of the present system of framing questions in Hindi and English in the civil services aptitude test CSAT.

In a letter to Dr.Singh, the former Chief Minister noted that the present system had affected the results of the candidates from Tamil Nadu. Of the total 980 candidates only 68 of them were selected whereas last year out of 980 candidates 122 of them were from the State.

The DMK supremo said that the objective of the UPSC was to test and select the best and brightest candidates and this will not be diluted by providing the translation of the questions in Tamil as well as Hindi.

Observing that the chunk of questions in the new format is easy only for students who are well versed in English and Hindi, Mr.Karunanidhi said that this has emerged as a severe challenge for candidates from Tamil Nadu who have excelled in the past on account of their hard work and deep understanding of the portions of the syllabus.
