interested in CSE. What are the steps I have to take in deciding the papers for
the exam?

First of all, you should select a subject which is interesting to you.
Then see whether
you have any idea about the subject or not. That will help you to understand
the subject easily.
Availability of
proper and standard books.
If possible,
previous success ratio, or the history of a particular subject
Select a second
subject whose exam will come after some gap in the Mains examination, so that
you can revise the subject.
