Supreme
Court refuses to postpone UPSC preliminary examination
The Supreme Court has refused to postpone the
Union Public Service Commission's, UPSC, preliminary examination. The
examination will take place tomorrow. The Apex Court said, while dismissing the
plea of a civil services aspirant that nine lakh students are ready to appear
in the exam and it cannot be postponed. The Court told the petitioner that he
has only raised questions on comprehension part that has already been removed
and the defect has been remedied.
Following protests by a section of UPSC aspirants over English Comprehension test in the Preliminary Examination of the UPSC, the Centre had recently decided to remove the questions of English languages in the CSAT.
Later, UPSC came out with the decision asking candidates to leave the questions unanswered during the CSAT examination as the section will not have any bearing on the merit list due to non-evaluation.
