Centre to convene all
party meeting on CSAT issue after Budget Session; Rules out any immediate
changes in the procedure of Civil Services Examinations
The government has ruled out any immediate changes in the
procedure for the conduct of Civil Services Examinations and said it will
convene an all-party meeting after the Budget session to seek the views of the
members on the CSAT issue.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu has informed both the Houses of Parliament today that the changes in the procedure cannot be made overnight.
He was responding to queries by some of the members in the Lok Sabha on the CSAT issue. He assured that the government will take appropriate action in this regard.
Earlier, Thambi Durai of AIADMK and other members demanded to include all the languages of 8th schedule as medium of Civil Services Examinations.
Responding to members’ concern on the controversial CSAT in the Rajya Sabha, Mr Naidu said the aim of the all party meeting is to arrive at a common approach to address the problem arising out of CSAT.
He said the issue needs a deep study and proper discussion by members. Referring to the on-going agitation by Civil Services Examination aspirants, he said there is no scope for cancellation of the examination and asked them to concentrate on their preparation for the Preliminary examination scheduled for 24th of this month.
Scores of civil
services aspirants continued their protest at Jantar Mantar, demanding the
complete scrapping of C-SAT.
The aspirants are not satisfied over government's assurance that the marks in English language comprehension skills of the UPSC aptitude test will not be included in the merit list.
