Sir, I am working as a software engineer from last 5 years
after completing my B.Tech. in Electronics Engineering. First, Should I go for
it because I am doing the job and can get 5-8 hours max a day for study?
Second, which optionals should I go with? I have in mind Geography, Public
Administration and Psychology.

It is really interesting that a person, even after working for 5 years coming
forward for civil services.
The time of 5-8 hours or working days and 10-12 hours on holidays will be more
than enough for an aspirant like you to succeed in the civil services. But we
suggest you to go for one month leave before prelims and 2-3 months leave
before mains, if you are serious about the exams. As far as optionals are
concerned, we suggest to Engineering graduates to go for Geography as a first
option if they don't have any subject in their mind. A month other three
optionals you can select either public Administration or Psychology you should
select the optional based on your interest and availability of other resources.
As per the UPSC record, psychology is better performing subject than public
Administration
