Sustainable Agriculture Managements

It aims at sustainable production with limited or no chemical inputs with preference to farm grown inputs without pollution and minimum damage to natural resource base
·        Integrated Water shed management aims at
o       Soil and moisture conservation
o       Land use based on land capability  
o       Waste land management
o       Afforestation

·        Tillage practices aim at
o       Reduction in the soil degradation
o       Improvement in the weed control
o       Timely decomposition of organic matter
o       Provides optimum condition to soil micro organisms
·        Nutrient managament
o       Use of organic source of nutrients like, green (Daincha, Sesbania) and leaf manures (Glyricidia, Tephrosia), Farmyard manures, composts, oil cakes, fish meal and blood meals etc.
o       Use of biofertilizers like Rhizobiam, Azolla, and Azotobacter etc.
·        Integrated Water Managament
o       Rain Water Management includes water harvesting, supplemental irrigation and reduction of evapo transpiration
o       Irrigation management includes, scheduling of irrigation, provision of good quality water to avoid alkalization and salinization
·        Weed Management
o       Use of biological, cultural and physical methods of weed control
o       Hand weeding, tillage and crop rotation also found effective inclusion
·        Pest and Disease Management
o       Use of resistant varieties
o       Use of plant derived pesticides
o       Concept of Economic threshold level and integrated pest management
o       Incorporation of physical, biological, chemical and cultural principles of pest and disease management
