Definition: “Sustainable agriculture is a form of agriculture aimed at
meeting the needs of present generation without endangering the resource base
of future generations”
Principles:

conservation, restoration and sustainable intensification.

saving, equity in water sharing and efficiency in water delivery and use. This
means integrated water management.
3.
Integrated
soil and nutrient management. Indian soils are not only thursty, also hungry,
so proper management is vital
4.
Integrated
disease, pest and weed management are the most important principles for
sustainable agriculture.
5.
Whole
plant utilization methods and preparation of value added products
6.
Widening
genetic diversity and location specific varieties are essential for achieving
the objectives of sustainable management
